This year for World Book Day the children in Junior Infants were asked to bring in their favourite book from home to share with the class. There was great excitement in the morning when they arrived to school showing their books to one another. We had circle time and each child got the opportunity to come up and speak about their book in front of the whole class. Later in the day the students from 6th class paired up with the Infants and read to them. It was a very enjoyable day! The class filled up their star jar in December, and so earned a special Christmas treat. They had a fun day where they brought in their favourite soft toy, tucked into some popcorn, got cosy and watched a Christmas movie. In November, we learnt all about our 5 senses. The class used their senses to taste, smell, feel, listen to and look at a variety of different items, to see if they could guess what they were. We had lots of fun doing this activity! In October, we went on a walk around the school yard to try and see signs of Autumn around us. We collected some leaves, left them to dry and then used them to create pictures by doing leaf rubbing. In September, Junior Infants explored the theme 'A Visit to the Doctor'. They participated in a number of enjoyable activities where they built their own doctor's surgery, cut out equipment to put in a doctor's bag, they practiced bandaging up dolls and teddies and they did make-believe play at their own doctor's surgery. Here are some photos that were taken throughout the month.
